Backup Policy

Understand our backup policies, including how backups are managed and what to expect after account termination.

At Middlehost, we prioritize the safety and security of your data by taking daily offsite backups for our shared hosting services. However, it's important to understand the limitations of our backup services and your responsibilities as a client. Our Backup Policy outlines our practices and the measures you should take to protect your data.

Backup Policy

Daily Offsite Backups

We take daily offsite backups for our shared hosting services. These backups are available if you need to restore data from a specific date. However, please note that storing backups on the server is prohibited. Clients are encouraged to store backups remotely.

Prohibited Backup Practices

The following practices are prohibited:

  • Storing backups directly on the server.
  • Using Softaculous backups.

We reserve the right to delete any backups, including tar, tar.gz, or zip files, from the server without prior notice.

Backup Policy After Account Termination

  • We retain backups of terminated accounts for a limited period.
  • We are not liable to provide backups once an account has been terminated.
  • If a user requests a backup more than two months after account termination, we may or may not be able to provide the backup, depending on availability in our remote Disaster Recovery locations.
  • We charge $10 each time a request is made to check for backups in our Disaster Recovery locations.

Backup Availability and Charges

If we confirm the availability of a backup in our remote Disaster Recovery location, we reserve the right to charge 2x the monthly price of the service for each month we have kept the backup. This fee applies because we maintain these backups even when we are not obligated to do so.

Reinstatement of Hosting Services

We can reinstate the hosting service for a client using the available backup. However, to do so, the client must pay for the backup period during which we kept their data, and they need to subscribe to a yearly payment plan. In this case, the standard refund policy applies with a modification: the client must commit to at least 6 months of service. If the client cancels before the 6-month period, we will deduct the cost of the 6 months before processing any refund.
